Windlass Anchor Rode - 1/2" 8 Plait Nylon Rope spliced to 25 ft of Galvanized 1/4" Chain 

We have taken our renowned rode and made it even better! Instead of a fifteen foot chain lead, we have increased it to twenty-five feet to give you the extra leverage that you need. And when nothing but the best will do, you want Buccaneer rope. This rode uses premium Buccaneer brand rope and galvanized chain. Our chain is high-test G4 short link. It is hot-dipped and with proper care, will provide years of use.

Buccaneer rope is manufactured in the USA in Scottsboro, Alabama. They have been serving the rope and cordage industry for close to 45 years. Buccaneer 8-plait has a more substantial lay that gives more grip when going through your gypsy. This premium rope is for the discriminate boater who wants the benefits of an 8-plait with a thicker hand feel. 

Eight plait anchor rodes have a few distinct advantages over three strand rodes:

  • Eight plait rodes have a looser, bi-directional woven lay, allowing it to drape over itself, reducing air voids found between the coiled, denser line found in three strand rodes. The more air in the locker, the less line capacity you're able to carry onboard.

  • Since the line has no bias clockwise or counter clockwise, the rope will not hockle or kink, allowing the windlass to manage the rope better

  • Eight plait rope is able to absorb higher shock loads than three strand rope

  • The combination of premium nylon rope and chain is suitable for all major windlass manufacturers.

**All rodes must be soaked prior to use, otherwise snags and slippage can occur. Ensure that you have the proper size and then soak from 2 to 24 hours before loading into your windlass.**

    8 Plait rode to Windlass Chain

    Tried other companies (West Marine) and got the run around by them and kept getting told they can't do 25ft of chain that I would only need 15ft. Well, first WM you do not decide the length of chain I need. So, I found Dark Horse. Not only did they have readily available 25ft chain with 300 ft of 8 plait braided to the chain but their ordering process was super easy and super fast and pricing was excellent. DO NOT PASS UP DARK HORSE!!! EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

    I ordered the 25ft of 1/4 G4 chain on 1/2" 8 plait rope and it is very well constructed. It has a high quality look and feel. I just put it on the boat and I am sure it will perform well also. The shipping was faster than expected also! Thank you for a great product, stay safe and God bless.
